Selvi psychological Services was initially founded by Muradiye Selvi who was the first registered Turkish speaking psychologist in private practice.
Over the past 18 years this clinic has evolved into a unique Psychological – Therapy and Intervention clinic, and now able to provide our clients with TOTAL PSYCHOLOGICAL CARE using a wide range of therapeutic interventions and modalities.
Our services are principally devoted to providing Specialist Psychological – Therapy and Intervention services to members of our culturally diverse community.
SELVI PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES is privately operated by an independent psychologist who believe in providing confidential, ethical and professional services which is accessible to members of our community.
Hence, fees charged are carefully balanced to ensure the viability of this community resource with regards to affordability to you, the CLIENT.
SELVI PSYCHOLOGIAL SERVICES also provides low cost counselling services, which are provided by skilled probationary psychologists under the supervision of Muradiye Selvi Consultant Psychologist.
LOCATION AND PREMISES
SELVI PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES is located at 124 Sydney Road, Coburg and services the needs of people living in this suburb and the adjacent northern suburbs of Melbourne. However, because of the unique psychological services provided by this clinic, our services are attended by clients living in all suburbs including Dandenong, Brighton and Doncaster just to name a few.
SELVI PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES is easily accessed by public transport and has ample street parking around the centre.
It also has wheelchair access and premises are equipped with consulting rooms, which will accommodate people using wheelchairs or other disability aides.
The premises presents a welcoming unpretentious and comfortable setting that offers a relaxed atmosphere that is warm, friendly and non-clinical. Our consultation rooms, which are all uniquely furnished are appropriate to be used with individuals, families and groups.
Doctors and referral agencies may feel confident in the courtesy and professional treatment their clients will receive.
STAFF
The administration and reception staff at SELVI PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES will strive to provide professional high quality services to those attending our clinic. They will usually be the first contact point with our services and will endeavour to answer client’s queries and assist them in making their appointments.

INFORMATION ON FEES
To meet the needs of the community, patients attending this clinic will only be charged a heavily discounted concession fee.
PRIVATE PATIENTS AND MEDICARE REBATES
We have adopted a Standard Concession Fee for all private patients.
$90.00 per hour or session for concession card holders and $100.00 for those in fulltime employment.
For those clients who are referred by their general practitioner under the new Mental Health Initiatives will have 12 individual and 12 sessions in group therapy covered by Medicare. We are happy to BULK BILL for these items as an added advantage to our clients. Please ask your general practitioner about this possibility or call us for more details.
(By comparison, The Australian Psychological Society Recommended Fee is currently $200.00 per hour)
Some Private Health Insurance Providers offer rebates for psychological services. Please ask your insurer.
VICTORIAN WORKCOVER AUTHORITY V.W.A. will pay for services that have been approved for patients who have sustained an injury, which is related to their job.
TRANSPORT ACCIDENT COMMISSION T.A.C. will pay for services that have been approved for patients directly affected due to a car accident and also for those who are grieving after loosing a family member to death in a car accident
For accepted claims the Insurer will be billed direct. Please don’t forget to bring your claim details, and doctor’s referral letter.
Patients on compensation systems should also be aware that any cost denied by Insurers cannot be redeemed through Medicare, and remain the patient’s responsibility
VICTIMS OF CRIME
Victims Of Crime Assistance Tribunal (V.O.C.A.T ). may pay for services of those people who have been a victim of a crime or who have witnessed and have been affected by such crime. The crime must be reported to police and an application must be lodged into VOCAT. Call us for more information.
APPOINTMENTS & CANCELLATIONS
Any appointment with a Psychologist is significantly longer than a standard Doctors appointment (typically about an hour) and appointments are ESSENTIAL. Therefore we request that reasonable notice be given in the event of a cancellation; at least 24 hours.
Failure to provide adequate notice will incur a non-attendance fee. Please also note that this applies to patients who’s fees may be covered by a third party insurer such as T.A.C. The insurer is not responsible for non-attendance fees and will be the responsibility of the client.
